The Vision:
The Core of Our Country’s Unfinished Work: to build a new spirit based on dignity, belonging, and the collective care of community
At the core of our country’s unfinished work is the belief that every person matters and belongs in the community of “we, the people.” This circle of care has the power to always grow wider.
We, the people of Massachusetts, are central to this story. As families, individuals, and neighbors, we come from all kinds of backgrounds—office workers, teachers, caregivers, food service workers, tradespeople, healthcare workers, and laborers. We all want the same things: safety, good health, steady work, and a fair chance for our families. Our job is to look out for each other even when times are hard.
The pain is clear: many in Massachusetts hear, in hundreds of spoken and unspoken ways, that they don’t matter—that their voices don’t count, and their pain is ignored. But you do matter. Your pain matters. Your needs matter. We all deserve to sleep knowing our children are safe, fed, and will have opportunities ahead.
Too often, leaders try to scare us by saying there isn’t enough to go around and that “those people” are taking jobs and opportunities from us. But “those people” aren’t the billionaires who twist the system to keep more for themselves. We can and must stay united. When we stand together with courage, we will win. Families can work, study, and care for their health without fear of persecution by masked agents. When we face injustice together, it loses power. It isn’t easy, but it can be done.
Powerful interests do oppose us: extreme inequality where the top one percent divide and discourage us to protect their wealth and preserve their privilege. Their goal is to keep people apart and maintain control. When fear rules, the powerful take more and leave the rest of us to struggle.
But there is a better way—one that starts with seeing each other’s humanity. Standing together across our differences. Making room for everyone instead of fighting over leftovers. Knowing there is enough—and that each of us brings something valuable to the table. Our work in Massachusetts is not just to push back against harm—it’s to build a new spirit based on dignity, belonging, and the collective care of community.
The promise is clear: You matter. We matter. We all belong.
The Plan
Join Us: Stand Up for the Soul of our State
In historic moments, Massachusetts has been a beacon of justice, equality, and compassion. Our Commonwealth’s strong anti-discrimination laws protect every resident — regardless of race, religion, immigration status, gender identity, or disability — from harm and bias. These protections reflect our deepest moral values and our belief in the dignity of every person.
Today, those values face growing threats. Federal overreach — including rollbacks of rights, targeted enforcement, and potential deployment of federal forces — endangers the safety and freedoms of our people. When that happens, Massachusetts must stand firm to defend our residents and safeguard both our sovereignty and humanity.
- Protecting Civil Rights in Massachusetts Means:
- Defending dignity: Everyone deserves to live free from fear and discrimination.
- Caring for our neighbors: We protect one another, especially the most vulnerable.
- Preserving quality of life: A fair, inclusive Commonwealth is safer and stronger for all.
Now Is the Time for Massachusetts to Lead
We have a proud legacy of moral courage and bold action. That legacy calls us to rise again.
We call on Governor Maura Healey to ensure our protections remain unshakable amid harmful and discriminatory federal actions that threaten our communities’ rights, safety, and dignity.
We urge the Governor to:
- Defend our sovereignty against any attempt to weaken state protections.
- Protect every resident from policies rooted in fear or prejudice.
- Champion fairness, dignity, and the common good.
