The mission of the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at UUCW is to extend compassionate help in the form of food and other related resources to people in our local area. We are one of the many food pantries supplied by the Worcester County Food Bank. We also accept donations from individuals.

Donate to Loaves and Fishes

Our clients come primarily from the northern part of Worcester. Although our clients may be in difficult situations, we treat all people with dignity and strive to care for each person individually. Food is distributed at UUCW on the third Saturday of the month (year-round), and we also provide food on an emergency basis to those who contact the church directly.

Loaves and Fishes is operated completely by volunteers, so your assistance is greatly appreciated for the following tasks:

  • Friday Shoppers – On the Friday before our monthly Saturday food distribution, several volunteers travel to the Worcester Food Bank to pick up food for about 65 clients and bring it to UUCW. Heavy lifting is required for this task.
  • Friday Set-up – From 6:00 – 7:30 pm on the Friday before a Saturday distribution, volunteers set up the available food like a grocery store in Fellowship Hall at UUCW. Volunteers assemble shopping carts for clients and prepare paperwork.
  • Saturday Distribution – From 9:00 am – 11:30 am on the Saturday of a distribution, volunteers answer questions, distribute food, and assist clients with shopping.
