Song can be very powerful. It can cut as deep as swords. It can bring joy and fearlessness into every situation. It can bring down walls. It can help us become one, build solidarity, and joint commitment to important values and principles.
On Aug 31, Matt Johnsen, Christan Carney (tenor) and Martha (Sandy) Kiefer (cello) will lead an exploration of the Justice Choir Songbook, a book of accessible songs that promote peace and Justice. Over the summer, Matt and Christan have been developing the Worcester Peace Choir, an inclusive group of singers who recently performed at the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Hiroshima. This morning,
We will explore the Justice Choir Songbook by singing from it. All are welcome, and this morning will provide an opportunity to learn songs that could be used in church, on the picket line, or at gatherings devoted to peace and Justice.
If you are interested in learning more about the Worcester Peace Choir, or in joining the choir at UUCW, or just want to sing, please join us! All are welcome!
Join us at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester at 10 am located at 140 Shore Drive, Worcester, MA 01605. For more information about this service, call Matt Johnsen (508) 494-2522.
