Here are some ways we can help generate voter participation and with recent decisions by the Supreme Court weakening voting rights, we need to do everything we can to empower voters to make their voice heard for the Mid-term election!
Make phone calls with the Center for Common Ground
Calls are being made now for early voting leading up to Virginia’s primary on August 4th using a very easy auto dialer, Impactive. Guided Phonebanks with training are available several evenings during the week by zoom–I am leading the training on July 28th and July 30th and would love to see some of my church peeps there! Go to https://www.centerforcommonground.org/phonebanks for more information, instructions, and to sign up for a Guided Phonebank. Calls on your own can be made between 9 AM and 8 PM.
Write postcards with Reclaim Our Vote to voters in Georgia.
Can you take a batch of 30 to work on over the summer for voting in the mid-term election? They do not get mailed out till October. For more information and instructions, go to postcard information Please contact Vickie to get your postcards.
Write letters to Pennsylvania with Vote Forward
Vote Forward has a campaign for sending an Election Planner to newly registered voters in PA. They have a 2-sided letter formatted to be folded in fourths and a place for you to write a brief message to the voter. Letters can be printed in batches of 5 or 20. Go to https://votefwd.org/instructions OR you can order a letter kit to be sent to you from Vote Forward (donations appreciated). Letters are to be mailed in October. For help, contact Beth via gotv@uucworcester.org.
Do you want to help plan activities for the early fall? Join our next Get Out the Vote Team meeting on zoom to be held Wednesday, July 8th at 6:30. For the zoom link Or to be added to our email distribution list. contact Beth via gotv@uucworcester.org
Put your faith into action and fight against voter suppression. Each call, postcard and letter can make a difference! Keep track of your activities (# of calls, postcards and/or letters) and report them to Beth for meeting our Good Trouble Congregation goals. Any questions, contact Beth directly or via gotv@uucworcester.org.
In peace and fellowship,
