#uucwreads highlights the ways that books are part of our members’ and staff’s lives. ***WHAT THE BOARD IS READING*** Board of Management member Vickie Cox-Lanyon is reading two books right now. “The Body Keeps the Score” is a fascinating study of the connection between mind and body, especially as it relates to trauma. It appeals to the psych major in her. But it’s heavy, so for a break she’s reading “Dinners with Ruth,” Nina Totenberg’s memoir of her friendship with RBG and many others in politics and at NPR. It’s set against the backdrop of gender discrimination and D.C. politics and is a good reminder of the groundbreaking work of women of their generation.

#uucwreads – A Kindle reader, Bruce Leshay likes to alternate between science fiction/fantasy (especially space stories) and nonfiction science and history. He recently finished the Expanse series by James S. A. Corey ( space opera), Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness (fantasy), An Immense World by Ed Yong (non-fiction a study of how animals use their senses), and Bellevue by David Oshinsky (a history of Bellevue hospital in NYC).
