Ware River Rail Trail Day Hike with David Miller – Saturday, February 18, meet at UUCW at 10:30 am

The Ware River Trail (https://www.traillink.com/trail-gallery/ware-river-rail-trail/) is a 15-mile rail trail that runs from route 122 in Barre (a .25 mile walk from the Central Mass Rail Trail) to Baldwinville, passing through Hubbardston and Templeton.  We will hike a section from Rte. 122 at Coldbrook in Barre two miles north parallel to the Ware River and then east on Covered Bridge Road to the river.  Along Covered Bridge Road, we will pass the historic Riverside Cemetery.  At the site where the bridge once was, we will pause for lunch at a spot overlooking the river.

The hike to the bridge site and back is mostly flat and is a little over four miles round trip.

Participants will meet at The U. U. Church parking lot at 90 Holden Street at 10:30 on Saturday morning, February 18, and drive to the trailhead in Barre.

Participants are asked to bring their lunch, water bottle, and rain gear in case of a shower.
