newspaper article from Worcester Sunday Telegram dated feb. 16, 1969 - caption reads Peace is the warmth that a letter from a family overseas can bring. Charles D. Wolfson and his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Irving Wolfson peruse letters and admire doilies from Greece

This newspaper photo from the UUCW scrapbooks ran with a story detailing the Wolfson family’s participation in a “Save the Children Foundation” project. The family began in 1956 by contributing to the welfare of a child living in Greece. Their sponsorship expanded to that of the child’s whole family. According to the story, the aim of the project was to convince people that they can do something about their poverty. In addition to exchanging letters three to four times a year, the Wolfsons sent clothing and medical supplies. The article also mentions that son Charles was a member of the Liberal Religious Youth of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
