Joys & Sorrows – Sharon Templeman Memorial Service, October 15, 3 PM at UUCW

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, Sharon L. Templeman, passed away at the age of 79. A private family burial was held in July in Connecticut.

Sharon was born on January 11, 1943 in New Britain, CT to David Robbins (Bob) and Virginia Ruth (Ginny) Templeman. She received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Speech and Education from Bates College in 1965. She received a Master of Arts degree in in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption College in 1990.

 A dedicated teacher with a passion for education, her career spanned over 27 years including 22 years as a Title I and Special Education Teacher for the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services. Sharon’s hobbies included cross-stitching, reading, sewing, needlework, knitting, crochet, and making crafts. She loved the theater, whether she was onstage acting or directing in her youth, sewing costumes for her children’s performances, or attending live theater.

She was known for her quick wit, her interest in others, along with her kind and compassionate spirit.  She believed in volunteer work. She supported and donated regularly to a local food pantry. Sharon ran a knitting group at church for many years whose mission was to provide prayer shawls, lap blankets, and baby caps to those in need. She was a Campfire Girls leader for 7 years in Holden, MA. A lover of animals, she always had at least one dog or cat in the family.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Kimberly (Doug) Napoleone of Worcester, MA, Kate (Mike Wright) Templeman of Florence, MT and Arthur (Nancy) Pierce of Leominster, MA, five grandchildren: Joshua and Sarah Napoleone, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Spencer Withers. She is also survived by her furry kitty companion, Shelley, who now resides with Sharon’s daughter Kate in Montana.

A memorial service followed by light refreshments will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at her Unitarian Universalist Church at 90 Holden Street, Worcester, MA. In honor of Sharon, please wear something purple which was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Pat Brody Animal Shelter for Cats, 499 Northfield Rd, Lunenburg, MA 01462, the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester, MA 01606, or the Worcester Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
