Parking Lot Posts & Social Justice: Tom Innis’ Eagle Scout Project

About 26 years ago Tom Innis, son of Chuck & Wendy Innis, brother to Jen Innis (our Guest Minister Dec. 27) became an Eagle Scout. Working with Herb Adams and his troop, Tom’s project was to add short brown posts to the edge of the church parking lot in order to curb the destruction of the grass each winter by plows. This fall, as a part of the parking lot redevelopment, Tom’s posts were removed. We could not let this moment pass without paying respect to Tom and the legacy of his project. What was discovered was a far more interesting and involved story of social justice and witness. Thanks to Betty Jenewin and Vickie Cox-Lanyon for their videography talent in capturing Tom’s efforts in a short video.
