It is with great sadness that we received the news of the sudden death of Sandra Ansaldi on February 8th at her home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 2 pm at UUCW. We extend our deepest sympathy to Sandra’s family and close friends during this precious and poignant time.

We were saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth Bejune (father of Matt Bejune) on January 26. Visitation and a Memorial Service are planned for Sunday, Feb 4, 2024. Details and obituary are available HERE.

We are glad to know that Steve Ober is now home recovering after a short hospitalization. We send him thoughts and love for a swift recovery.

We were deeply saddened by the death of long-time UUCW member Gale Eckerson in January of this year. We continue to honor Gale’s life and legacy next with an invitation to join her family and friends on Sunday, August 27 @ 1 pm at UUCW for a celebration of life and reception in her honor and memory.
Gale was a long-time member of UUCW.  A retired librarian, Gale loved books of all kinds and helped many discover a passion for the same. She loved her church and delighted in the friendships she maintained with a number of people.  She had been dealing with many challenging health issues and was recently hospitalized when she returned to care at the Auburn Life Care Center where she died peacefully.  Gale’s obituary can be found HERE.

We were saddened to learn that Bruce Leshay’s mother, Enid Leshay, died on Saturday, January 28th, in New York.  Bruce and Cheryl will be sitting shiva at their home this Thursday thru Saturday (2/2 – 2/4).  Their house will be open for visitors from 11am until 9pm all three days.  No appointment is needed.  In Judaism, shiva is a time for comforting the grieved and reflecting on the life of the deceased.  Traditionally, people bring some food when visiting, but this is not required.  Flowers are not part of Jewish mourning tradition. The address is 321 Goodale Street, West Boylston. The house is on the corner of Goodale Street and Brooks Crossing, the driveway is on Brooks Crossing.

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, Sharon L. Templeman, passed away at the age of 79. A private family burial was held in July in Connecticut.

Sharon was born on January 11, 1943 in New Britain, CT to David Robbins (Bob) and Virginia Ruth (Ginny) Templeman. She received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Speech and Education from Bates College in 1965. She received a Master of Arts degree in in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption College in 1990.

 A dedicated teacher with a passion for education, her career spanned over 27 years including 22 years as a Title I and Special Education Teacher for the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services. Sharon’s hobbies included cross-stitching, reading, sewing, needlework, knitting, crochet, and making crafts. She loved the theater, whether she was onstage acting or directing in her youth, sewing costumes for her children’s performances, or attending live theater.

She was known for her quick wit, her interest in others, along with her kind and compassionate spirit.  She believed in volunteer work. She supported and donated regularly to a local food pantry. Sharon ran a knitting group at church for many years whose mission was to provide prayer shawls, lap blankets, and baby caps to those in need. She was a Campfire Girls leader for 7 years in Holden, MA. A lover of animals, she always had at least one dog or cat in the family.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Kimberly (Doug) Napoleone of Worcester, MA, Kate (Mike Wright) Templeman of Florence, MT and Arthur (Nancy) Pierce of Leominster, MA, five grandchildren: Joshua and Sarah Napoleone, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Spencer Withers. She is also survived by her furry kitty companion, Shelley, who now resides with Sharon’s daughter Kate in Montana.

A memorial service followed by light refreshments will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at her Unitarian Universalist Church at 90 Holden Street, Worcester, MA. In honor of Sharon, please wear something purple which was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Pat Brody Animal Shelter for Cats, 499 Northfield Rd, Lunenburg, MA 01462, the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester, MA 01606, or the Worcester Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

We were saddened to learn that Sharon Templeman, passed away on July 24th after a brief illness. She was laid to rest last week in a private ceremony surrounded by her family. A memorial service at UUCW is being planned for the fall. She was so loved and will be greatly missed. Messages of condolence can be shared with Sharon’s daughter, Kim Napoleone and family at Kim dot Napoleone at gmail dot com or sent to her home (please contact the office for her address if you do not have it). The date and time for the memorial service will be announced in the Message in the coming weeks.

Jeanne Shea – We were saddened to learn of the death of Jeanne Shea on April 22, 2022, wife of former member Art Shea.  The Shea’s moved to Maine a number of years ago.  Art has sent word of an online celebration of Jeanne’s life on Sunday, June 19 at 1 pm.  To receive zoom information please contact Art at  artshea at yahoo dot com. 

Maggie Howe Memorial Service – Carol Howe and her family invite members and friends of UUCW to a Memorial Service in Celebration of the life of Margaret “Maggie” Howe, Carole’s mother on Saturday, June 18 at 2 pm at the church, to be followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall.  Maggie was an active and long-time member of UUCW before moving to Orleans and reconnected with the congregation upon their return to the area in Northborough.  Maggie died in 2020 at the age of 101.  The family wanted to wait until it was safe to gather in person for a celebration of her life.
