Notice of Annual Meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester
Sunday, June 7th, 2026, Following the Service on Zoom and In-Person

Notice Pursuant to the by-laws of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester, the Annual Meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester (UUCW) will take place following the service at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026 on Zoom and in-person.

The meeting is open to all. However, voting is restricted to members of record of the UUCW. This is an important event in the ongoing business and life of our congregation and reflects the principle: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregation and in society at large.

During this meeting we will vote on the minutes of last year’s annual meeting, the slate of Board of Management members and leaders to be elected, the FY 2027 budget, and other items that will be posted in the Annual Report.

Sunday, June 7, will offer another opportunity for people to formally join the congregation as new members by participating in a ceremony during the 10 am worship service, during which participants sign the membership book and are welcomed formally by the congregation. Participation in this ceremony is not a requirement for membership.

Anyone who wishes to become a member may do so by inquiring with the Minister and may sign the membership book in private.

Thoughts On Membership

We are changed by any community we choose to join. Becoming a member of UUCW is about making a commitment to support and shape this congregation; it is also about opening yourself to be shaped within the context of this community.

Why Join? Joining the church is a formal sign of commitment to our community. With it goes an understanding of both service and financial support, as you are able, to our community. It means lending your energy and talents to grow our young people, care for our elders, fight for our beliefs and passions, laugh together, cry together, and mark our transitions together. It buoys and strengthens the community-and that means each and every member knows that we share a common bond.

Membership allows you to be a voting member on concerns vital to our church community. At the Annual Meeting members vote to approve a budget, to accept new leaders, and to change bylaws affecting our governance. Historically our members have voted on important congregational questions such as whether to offer two services on Sundays, install the rainbow window, or change the size of our Board of Management.

For the Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 7 a light lunch (sandwiches, chips, pickles, sweets) will be served in between the service and the start of the annual meeting. Bring your lunch and enjoy a casual visit and conversation with Rev. Aaron Payson and other UU friends. Beverages and place settings are provided.  Everyone is welcome to drop in.

You’re Invited to the UUCW Community Art Show “The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate Is Love” to be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

Join us at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester for a vibrant, heart-opening art show that brings our community together through creativity, truth-telling, and love in action.

This special event will fill our garden and indoor spaces with visual art, spoken word, dance, music, and storytelling from local and emerging artists, centering voices and visions that challenge racism and oppression.

What to Expect

• Powerful artwork exploring liberation, solidarity, repair, and joy
• Opportunities to meet artists, hear their stories behind their work, and purchase art
• Performances and shared moments of reflection
• A welcoming, multi-age community space grounded in UU values

Supporting artists may sell their work, and donations during the program will support artists and more anti-racism/community justice efforts (details shared at the event).

This is more than an art show—it’s a gathering of neighbors, creatives, and justice-seekers who believe that love is stronger than hate.

Come wander, listen, reflect, celebrate, and be moved.
