With the overall goal of  $20,000, 19,500 was raised with more coming in (one congregation had not reported as of Sunday). UUCW raised nearly $1,000.

There were 108 human and 7 canine walkers. At least half were youths. We were blessed with the best weather for walking. And when we returned there were 4 excellent soups, delicious desserts and beverages. The band Hit the Bus provided great entertainment again this year.

To Aaron, for keeping me sane, to volunteer Betty Jenewin for her role of official photographer, to Melissa McKeon, contributing one of her delicious soups, to Cori Henry, Sue Neaz, and Linda Rich baking outstanding desserts, I am so grateful for your kindness. 

AND, to all of you who generously contributed to CWS. I also want to recognize those who are new to our congregation, and who have  given generously.

As Aaron would say, “you know who you are”!

TEAM UUCW NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The 2022 Holden CROP WALK is soon upon us. We are in need of the following volunteers:
* 1-2 bakers willing to each provide 2-3 dozen cookies/bars, etc.
* 2-3 youths to help with a water activity (demonstrating the weight of water buckets carried by the
women for several miles) or directing walkers to registration.
* Most of all, we need walkers walkers walkers. -And taking a packet to collect donations from their
acquaintances.

Thank you for stopping at the table recently, and to those who have already donated.

Your steps are needed now more than ever. The lingering effects of the pandemic, along with drought, inflation, and the war in Ukraine, are placing millions at risk of starvation.That’s why your participation is crucial in this year’s Walk.

Envelopes will again be available this Sunday for sign-up and allowing you to add donations from neighbors, co-workers, family and friends!

Many have asked what we can do to assist those affected by Hurricane Ian in Florida.  For those who would like to support UUs in at region who have been most affected by the storm, the UUA has a Disaster Relief Fund to which you can contribute. As the search and rescue operation continues this is one of the most important ways we can serve those in our UU sphere who are most affected.  As responses to this disaster evolve, more ways to respond will also be shared. At Last… The Holden Crop Walk for Hunger is happening October 16 with no restrictions.This is a family-friendly activity for all ages; and by all means, bring your dog (or cat) for the walk. Participating congregations are St. Mary’s, First Baptist, First Congregational, St. Francis, St. Spyridon Cathedral, Immanuel Lutheran (all in Holden) and us…Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester.

Money raised by this walk supports CWS to help feed, educate, dig wells, promote health, and much more in countries around the globe. It helps refugees relocate safely and is presently working with the people of Ukraine.

On the 25th I will have sign-up/pledge sheets and literature in Fellowship Hall,

and asking for a few volunteers for the day of the walk.
