Thank you to our wonderful group of teens and their chaperones for donating their time, heart, talents and money to be an important part of the annual trip to Deep Roots in Earlville, MD.   Our chaperones need a huge round of applause:  Leader: Lynsey Heffernan and Charlie Heffernan, Cori Henri, and Evan Wilson.  What a dream team of leaders.  When you see them in our halls, thank them!  Please wish our Youth Group and their chaperones well as they travel this weekend for 4 days to live and work at Deep Roots in Maryland.  Because of transportation, food and stay costs, this trip can be very expensive to many youth and their families. 

 At UUCW we like to ensure that all youth can have the opportunity to experience this work service trip which helps families who are experiencing homelessness. 

 Deep Roots is run by volunteers who maintain this large farm and all its facilities and shelter spaces.  We have been volunteering here for over 15 years.

The post Religious Exploration News – Youth Group Trip to Deep Roots first appeared on Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester.

On Sunday November 9th 10am, the RE children will be packing bags for our Thanksgiving Food Distribution.  We invite all folks to bring in a food donation from the list!  Bring the food to the pews with you, and children will collect in grocery carts up and down the aisles.  We will then bring the items to Fellowship Hall and begin our annual “Thanksgiving Fixing Bag” assembly.  

Items to bring:  Gravy, instant mashed potatoes, vegetables( bags of carrots or a squash, canned yams, green beans), sweet bread /dessert mix, stuffing, gift card to a local grocery store.  Thank YOU!

Please join us on Sunday November 2nd at 10 am for Religious Exploration.  Children will be focussed on our monthly theme of “gratitude” in a variety of ways.  Younger elementary students will make painted cards that we’ll give out at our upcoming Thanksgiving Food distribution, thanking volunteers for their efforts. Older elementary focussed on gratitude and our ancestors.

Spirit Play Class will meet!

Coming of Age will meet in the morning and after church with their mentors.

Youth Group will meet at 5:30-7:30

Next week we’ll have our Thanksgiving Food Drive Sunday!  All children will be involved with making Thanksgiving Fixing Bags for our food pantry clients.

They have completed their service trip to Deep Roots in Earleville Maryland this past Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend.  They lived and worked on the Clairvaux Farm which houses the many buildings associated with Deep Roots Family Shelter and community outreach initiatives.  KUDOS!
