You’re Invited to the UUCW Community Art Show “The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate Is Love” to be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

Join us at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester for a vibrant, heart-opening art show that brings our community together through creativity, truth-telling, and love in action.

This special event will fill our garden and indoor spaces with visual art, spoken word, dance, music, and storytelling from local and emerging artists, centering voices and visions that challenge racism and oppression.

What to Expect

• Powerful artwork exploring liberation, solidarity, repair, and joy
• Opportunities to meet artists, hear their stories behind their work, and purchase art
• Performances and shared moments of reflection
• A welcoming, multi-age community space grounded in UU values

Supporting artists may sell their work, and donations during the program will support artists and more anti-racism/community justice efforts (details shared at the event).

This is more than an art show—it’s a gathering of neighbors, creatives, and justice-seekers who believe that love is stronger than hate.

Come wander, listen, reflect, celebrate, and be moved.

The Book Group will meet next on Wednesday, May 13th at 7 PM in Classroom 3.   We will discuss Nadia Hashimi’s “The Pearl That Broke Its Shell.”

Join us for our monthly Lunch with the Minister on Wednesday, June 10 in the Lounge. Please note this is the SECOND Wednesday in June. we’ve moved to accommodate the Yard Sale preparations the week before.

Bring your lunch and enjoy a casual visit and conversation with Rev. Aaron Payson and other UU friends. Beverages and place settings are provided.  Everyone is welcome to drop in.

After a 100 yard walk into the woods, We will set up camp around our lean-to (log shelter).  After lunch and on Sunday, we will hike in the adjacent wild lands, including some bushwhacking and a section of the Mid State Trail running through these woods. 

This is a beautiful area of rolling hills, mixed hardwoods and pines, wetlands, a river, and a pond.  Including a wildlife corridor valued by conservation organizations, the area is inhabited by abundant wildlife.  In addition to porcupines, the tracks of coyotes, snowshoe hares, squirrels, beaver, and mice, fisher, bear, and moose have been sighted in the area from time to time.

What to bring:

Provisions for lunch, supper, breakfast, and lunch.

Rain gear.

Camping equipment, including cooking gear, sleeping bags and insulating mattress, and your tent.

The woodlot abuts Princeton Land Trust and Massachusetts State Forest acreage and is a short walk from the scenic valley of the Ware River.

A ten foot by ten foot Adirondack shelter and fire pit provide a center for group activities.  There are plenty of tent sites near the shelter.

Participants will bring their own food, camping gear, tents, and sleeping gear and are invited to cook their meals over the campfire.

Many of us begin the church year with a weekend of retreat, reunion, and reflection at Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine (http://www.ferrybeach.org).  The weekend is affordable and open to everyone. We join together with friends from First Unitarian Church for beach walks, volleyball, time to rest, a talent show, and even a campfire!

We gather once again for our Spring Ecumenical Study Group, focusing on the book Historical Afterlives of Jesus by Gregory C. Jenks.  Material in this book includes the following: Introduction to the Historical Afterlives of Jesus Chapter 1: The Once and Future Jesus Chapter 2: The Parables of Jesus Chapter 3: Discovering Jesus in the Psalms Chapter 4: The Apocryphal Jesus Chapter 5: Jesus in Tertullian Chapter 6: Jesus as the Logos Chapter 7: Becoming Flesh Chapter 8: Jesus Christ on Byzantine Coins Chapter 9: The Aryan Jesus Chapter 10: Apocalypse Now and Then Chapter 11: Jesus, Individualism, and Mental Health.

We begin with a discussion about the introduction and the first chapter. Sessions are an hour and a half. Whether you’ve read the material for a particular day does not matter; come join the conversation.
