 Youth Programs at UUCW

Rachel Crystoff
Youth Program Coordinator

Here at UUCW we recognize the unique contributions youth offer to our community.  Our goal is to provide programs within our congregation and denomination that are tailored to their experience as liberal religious youth.  As our children grow into adolescents, our youth program offers opportunities for them to explore their rich religious heritage. They ask questions about their beliefs, about themselves, and about the greater mystery of our lives, and they learn valuable life skills to aid them in their journey.

UUCW is committed to creating a safe space for experiential learning in an environment of trust and support from peers and adults.  Participants strive to be accepting of all individuals, allowing for a diverse and nurturing community.  The youth in our congregation participate in activities that promote social justice, learning, spirituality, worship, leadership and welcoming community.  Through these activities youth develop lasting friendships and connections with their church.  They discover new ideas about themselves and their life experiences.  These youth are empowered to take opportunities to manifest in the world their ideas and ideals about healthy community, social and economic justice, and respect for the interdependence of all.   Our youth programs include the:

  • Coming of Age Program (COA) - a 1-2 year curricula that aids the process of awakening to the responsibility, self-awareness, and power that comes with becoming an adolescent in our community.
  • Our Whole Lives (OWL) Program - a sexuality education program offered to UUCW youth in grades 8 and 9.
  • High School Youth Group (YG) Program - is for youth in grades 9-12 that promotes youth empowerment and youth guided activities and meetings.
