Annual Canvass

“Let it be known that generous congregations are generative ones. They experience the gratification of seeing wrongs battled, prejudices undercut, griefs lightened, communities upheld. They recognize that, in the end, we possess nothing except what we’ve shared or given away.”
(from Growing A Beloved Community, by Rev. Tom Owen-Towle)
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester is supported financially almost entirely (over 75%) by pledges and gifts from members and friends of the church. Additional financial resources come from a variety of fundraising events, rental of our building and property, income from a small investment portfolio, small program grants and fees.
Our 2012 Stewardship drive included over 160 pledges, averaging $1163 a pledge for a total promise of over $223,000 for the next fiscal year. We welcome new or increased pledges throughout the year. Contact Denise Darrigrand or Tom Pierce for more information on pledging. A copy of the 2013 Canvass Brochure is available below for download.
Throughout the year a variety of events help raise funds from the larger community in support of the work of the congregation. Our larger fundraising efforts include a Bi-Annual Church Auction, Annual Yard Sale, Annual Gourmet Dinner, and Annual Fall Craft Fair. Smaller fundraising efforts such as recycling projects, used-book donations, and such occur throughout the year as well. If you have ideas for fundraising or are interested in helping with any of those named above, please contact Denise Darrigrand.
