COVID-19 Protocol & Outreach Update

This week Gov. Baker announced plans for the first phase of reopening the Commonwealth due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The Governor’s recommendations included protocol for houses of worship.  The UUCW Health & Safety Team has begun working on a phased program of reopening as well and will be meeting next week to discuss the Governor’s recommendations as well as that of our local government.

Out of an abundance of caution for those who are most vulnerable in our congregation and community, we are going to take small steps this spring and summer to begin reopening the building for use by UUCW-related and community groups.  We continue to plan to hold Sunday morning worship and religious exploration classes remotely through the end of the church year (through June), and are currently considering options for our summer programming which will be announced in the coming weeks. And we will continue to gather for check-in via ZOOM on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings at 8:30 pm and will continue to do so through the end of June at least.

See below for information related to upcoming opportunities for worship, RE, and groups meeting via video conference in the coming week(s).  If you have a pastoral or building related emergency, please do not hesitate to contact the Emergency # (508)-853-1942 ext. 108

Like many of you, I too long for the opportunity to gather in person.  That day is coming, and it is going to take the efforts of all of us to make certain, as we move toward that larger goal, that we do so with the health, safety and well-being of all of us and all those we serve foremost in our minds, hearts and hands.  This has been and continues to be the primary motivation of our Health & Safety Team, Staff and Board.

As the Commonwealth, our community and congregation continue to work toward reopening I caution us all to continue to remain vigilant in our efforts to maintain the health and safety of each other, our families and neighbors by wearing face coverings in public, washing hands frequently, disinfecting the areas we use most, and being the kind, compassionate and loving people we are with all those with whom we come into contact.

Please be safe.  Your minister loves you.  Robin, Jen, Matt, Steve, Sue, Cheryl, David as well as  so many other leaders, members and friends are here if you have needs.  Please reach out us.

Blessings,
Rev. Aaron Payson & the Health & Safety Team

Weekly Online Opportunities to Check-in & Chat

Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays @ 8:30 PM via ZOOM

Another important way that we can draw closer to each other is increase opportunities to “see” each other even if it is over video, and to have a chance to share how we are and any needs that present themselves, as well as have good conversation and fun.

Beginning Tuesday, March 17, and continuing every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, Aaron will be available on video conference to talk with any who wish to gather online and check in. If not topic is foremost in the minds of those joining this opportunity discussion questions will be posed.

TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHATS REMOTELY please email Aaron at for the log-in information..

Forming Circles of Care

As we seek meaningful ways to address the various challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, one very important thing we can do is to find other ways to draw closer to each other even as we practice social distancing. UUCW Circles of Care is one important contribution to this effort. Through various ways we seek to strength the ties that bind us to each other and community.

Are you willing to make calls to check in with others, write notes or cards, prepare a meal, shop for those who are home-bound, provide temporary child care, or inform us of others in need? Then join this effort! Please consider participating in ways that give you meaning and joy. We will follow up in the next week or so on ways to engage the various means listed above. For more information please contact Rev. Aaron Payson ().

Blessings, Aaron
