2019 Annual Meeting Information

2019 Annual Meeting

John Odell, President, Board of Management

Hello all,

I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather over the long Memorial Day weekend and that this newsletter finds you healthy and well. The Nugget will be short this week because there is only one topic to review – the upcoming annual meeting on June 2.

If you have not so already, please mark your calendar for the annual meeting taking place after the church service this coming Sunday. The purpose of the meeting is several fold:

  1. For the congregation to hear the recap of the year from the Minister and the Board President
  2. To review the fiscal year via the Treasurer
  3. To vote on the slate of nominees for the Board, and
  4. To review and vote on the fiscal year 2020 budget

As mentioned back in April the Board will be asking the Congregation for approval to withdraw $62,000 from investments to cover the expected gap in operating costs. This is roughly 25% less than what we withdrew in FY2019, but still a substantial amount. However, the Board believes that the operating budget is a lean as it can be made without fundamentally impacting services or staff. However, it should be noted that a new income source, the Youth Enrichment program, is expected to start this fall in FY20 that we hope can be a long-term benefit to the church’s finances and to its mission.

Lastly, we are in the process of forming a Committee to help the Board devise a 5-yr Master Plan for the church. Please stay tuned to learn more at the annual meeting.

Hope to see you there!
