2018 Summer Worship Services at UUCW


Summer Services at UUCW are a unique opportunity to worship and share in an informal environment.  Beginning on June 24 through September 2, folks will gather at 10:00 am in our air conditioned lounge for a service conducted by a member or friend of the congregation. While there is no child care or Religious Exploration Program for children during the summer, these services are family friendly and people of all ages are welcome.  Please see below for a list of services this summer.

June 24 – Worship from UUA General Assembly, Kansas City, MO
We’ll gather in the lounge and partake of the worship experience with thousands of other UU’s at General Assembly this week in Kansas City, Missouri.

July 1 – What’s on Your Mind? with Joan Webster
On this holiday weekend, we’ll gather for a conversation potpourri.

July 8 – “Music as Theraputic Tool” with Susan Solis-Castaneda
Come explore  some of the physical mental and emotional benefits of singing,and playing music.

July 15 – “UU Hymn Sing” with Dianne Mann
Come join together and explore hymns that you love to sing from our UU Hymnal and Hymnal Supplement.

July 22 –  “The New Minimalism – Sustainable, Simplified, Intentional Living” with Judy Savage
Discussion will center around some of topics in the book by Cary Telander Fortin & Kyle Louise Quilici. “New Minimalism exists as a middle path between traditional minimalism and over-the-top consumerism.” Find out the five places organization goes to die. Self-reflect and share your experiences, thoughts and feelings about why you’ve accumulated so much stuff in the first place!

July 29 – “Human Nature – better than we are led to believe.” with Mara Pentlarge
Let’s explore what our “better nature” truly is.

August 5 – “Growing Vegetables” with Evan Wilson
Come explore growing our interdependent web of life – We’ll discuss the joy of growing your own food and reconnecting with our earth, our sustenance, and our neighbors

August 12 – “On Friendship” with Sherri Linn
Let’s explore the avenues to friendship and how we open those paths to others around us.

August 19 – “The Principles of Libraries and Unitarian Universalism” with The Bejune Family
What are the principle similarities between our liberal religious movement and today’s libraries?

August 26 – “Reporting Back from General Assembly 2018” with UUCW GA Delegates
Come learn what we learned and did at GA this year.

September 2 – “What’s on Your Mind?” with Joan Webster
On this holiday weekend, we’ll gather for a conversation potpourri.
